Pilates

The Pilates Method is a system of exercises intended to strengthen the mind and body. Just like in ballet the exercises are structured in a certain order, where one exercise builds on the next and are based on the principles of coordination, strength, flexibility, alignment, focus, centering and flow.

What you learn with doing Pilates is applicable to anything else you do, from mundane things like hanging up your laundry and putting your socks on, to your everyday posture, to how you are practicing sports, to preventing and overcoming injuries, even to getting mental flexibility and clarity. When you become conscious of the way you move and how to optimise technique, breathing and form, your life will be transformed.

Pilates classes in Dubai Silicon Oasis are available on Mondays and Thursdays – 8:30am – 9:40am

Dates – Monday 5th September – Thursday 24th November
(excluding 13th, 17th, 20th & 24th October)

Pay termly – Mondays – 10 weeks – 600AED

Pay termly – Thursdays – 10 weeks – 600AED

Pay per class – drop in fee – 80AED

We do not offer make up classes so the drop in fee may work better for you if you cannot commit to every week.

Pilates Instructor

Marjolein is a multi-disciplinary coach and ex-professional ballerina who, besides being a wife, mom-of-3 and entrepreneur has spent a lifetime learning about movement. She has over 35 years of training and extensive experience in teaching Pilates, Yoga, Kids yoga, Ballet, Progressive Ballet Technique and Barre.

From a very early age Marjolein’s passion for movement and dance was clear, and she was drawn to ballet. At age 10 she left home to attend full-time professional ballet school – the Royal Conservatory- in her home country The Netherlands.
At age 16 she was granted a scholarship to study at one of the top ballet schools in the world; The School of American Ballet in New York. This is also where she was first introduced to Pilates, in those days still a little secret amongst dancers. She discovered how much Pilates helped her improve her strength and abilities, and this made her a true believer in the amazing physical and mental benefits that this practice has to offer.
After her studies she continued her ballet career as a company member with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and later with the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Belgium.

An ankle injury brought an abrupt end to her dancing career, however it did not end her passion for movement. She continued to practice Pilates and went on to study other movement modalities. She obtained a multitude of teacher certifications in Pilates, Yoga, Kids yoga, Progressive Ballet Technique and Barre.

It’s Marjolein’s passion to share her knowledge and help others find effortless movement and grace. Her teaching is centred around a mindful step-by step approach to obtain the ultimate Freedom of movement.
